Just yesterday Josh, myself, my mom, and kiddos took an awesome tour of the Cowboys stadium. We took tons of pictures, were able to go into the locker rooms of the players and cheerleaders, down on the field, in Jerry Jones' suite and everything in between. Got tons of cute pictures but unfortunately some jerk stole my camera AND my moms camera while we were shopping in the ProShop, so all of our Christmas pictures are gone and Grandma's vacation pics with the kids are gone too. I hope someone is enjoying our personal pictures and also that every time they walk outside a bird craps on their head.

Just a regular day in the neighborhood

What? You don't feed the peacocks in your neighborhood goldfish crackers?

Catching up

We will play the catch up game...only a few holidays behind here.

Ryleigh had a blast carving pumpkins and you would think carter liked it too but he touched the gunk inside once and wanted nothing to do with the annual event.

Ryleigh trying to eat the donuts off the tree at a halloween party. Ry was a witch and Carter was a dinosaur.

Baby ladybugs

We celebrated Ry's birthday with an ice cream cake and friends.

Plus one more

I have no idea why its taken me so long to blog about the next addition to our family. Baby Smith should make his or her appearance the first week in march which puts me at almost 6 months along. Josh and I decided to be surprised this time around and not find out the sex. Rarely do we have true surprises in life anymore right? We are both confident we know what the sex is. Ryleigh wants a baby sister of course and Carter wants a brother. One of them will not get their hearts desire but I am sure once their new sibling arrives the sex wont matter.

I am much more exhausted this time around, could be my old age or the busy life we lead. I am happy about not going with a doctor this time around and using a midwives group. Had I known then what I know now!

Here's a sneak peek at baby smith.

Happy 7th Birthday Ryleigh!

We started out the birthday morning with the annual waffle, whip cream, strawberries and candle. She insists on it every year and now Carter gets one for his special day too. AND it was free dress week at school so she didn't have to wear uniforms. We can't believe how fast 7 years has gone by and all of the wonderful things we've seen our little lady do and ways she has grown. We are blessed beyond to have this sweetie in our lives and we are so proud of her and the independent girl she is becoming. Love you RyBug.
Grandma gave her a necklace and charm bracelet. I think she likes them.

The Trinity Trot 5K

Last month Ryleigh did her very first run with her new, awesome, fabulous school. Her Aunt Jess and Daddy did the 3.2 mile run with her and I could not have been more proud. She and Josh only trained for about a mile but she ran almost the entire thing...not so much by choice but I'm glad Josh pushed her to keep going. After the race Josh asked if she was going to keep running with him to which she promptly replied, "nope".  (our next race is in a month, the Jingle Bell Run in Ft. Worth AND she joined the running club at school so I think she may like it just a little bit)

Zoo day

We decided to brave the 105 degree temps and head to the Fort Worth Zoo before school started for Ryleigh and fortunately for us, there was hardly anyone there! Here is a cute video of Ryleigh playing with this cute penguin. I'll spare you the rest of the pictures as Ryleigh was the official photographer at the zoo and took a LOT of photos of the animals and a few of herself. It was an awesome day with my babies.

I will NOT miss you!! I'm really hoping this will be the last week of temperatures in the 100's. It was a brutally hot summer which kept us inside for the most part. I even had to tell the kids way too many times that it was just too hot to go swimming.

Today my sweet little man started his mother's day out program. He will go Tuesdays and Thursdays and I know he is going to love it. It's the same program that Ryleigh did at 4 and 5. He's just starting a bit earlier in the Little Lambs class.

Here is Mr. Carter Man this morning on his very first day of school. He was very excited! And so was Mommy cause now I can update my blog and do other random stuff around the house that needs to be done, you know, the fun stuff, like cleaning, going through old mail, making phone calls, etc.

Speaking of first days of school, here is Ryleigh last week on her first day. The charter school we had her enrolled in made some big changes that we just weren't comfortable so we ended up there for only 1 day. I never thought that my children would ever be in private school but here in Texas our education system isn't what I expected. We are ranked 47th in the nation and getting worse now that our great governor cut about $8 Billion in education funding. Soooooo, Ryleigh has a new school and I understand now that God put here there for a reason. She is doing well and has a very small class size. Ryleigh needs a "family" environment where everyone knows each other so we all think this is a perfect fit for her. So far she loves it and is learning sign language and Spanish along with her other core classes. One thing I really love about the school is that they have service projects once per month where they go visit a local nursing home, teach the residents how to make a certain craft or project and build relationships with them. Ryleigh definitely has a service heart and I want her to know how important it is to serve others selflessly.

More posts and news to come!

Flips and Stuff

We like to do flips in swimming pools. Ryleigh is doing front flips off Josh and Carter is just a crazy little man who has no fear of the water or being under the water. Love my little fish.

A random moment of sweetness between the two. Mommy has been working very hard to get these two siblings to play nice but the age difference makes it difficult. Ry doesn't want to play Carter's "baby stuff" and Carter ruins her things by coloring all over them, etc. You, know, regular things like that.
Thought I would throw our Easter picture in the mix.

We leave in the morning for our summer vacation! First we are driving to Kansas to attend a wedding and see some family. From there we will drive up to Mn for the week! I am so excited to get out of this heat for a few days and see our friends and family. There are lots of new babies to meet and most everyone has yet to meet Carter. Jess is coming with us also so the backup in the car will be nice. Let's hope Carter does better on this trip than he did 2 Thanksgivings ago. I can't handle 6 straight hours of screaming again! I am armed with DVD's, books, and snacks. I hope they work.....

 Some summertime fun planting.....
 And in a week......
 Carter has sunflowers....
Ryleigh has marigolds and another missing tooth. This time on top! I personally think she looks adorable without it!

Out with the old...

 Ryleigh's last day of Kindergarten
Ry and her wonderful teacher Mrs. Titus

I can't believe it's done already. And in that same breath, I'm glad it's over. Ryleigh's Kindergarten year was an interesting one. Josh and I learned a lot as parents of a school age child and Ryleigh learned a ton. She is reading at almost a 2nd grade level. We are so proud of her! It was also a rough year in terms of school mates. The interactions at school were disappointing to say the least. Unfortunately, many of the kids attending the school have parents who aren't very involved in their lives. And now, after moving to this specific house for the school, we are pulling her out and putting her in a charter school next year. You live and you learn, right?! Her new school is state funded but run like a private school. It is the first year it will be open and there are only 300 kids K-9th so it will be a big change for Ryleigh who came from a school with 6 kindergarten classes. But Josh and I are confident it will be a good change. She is now excited too after learning that several of her friends and neighbors are also leaving the school and going somewhere new. The school is very focused on technology and hopefully more focused on values rather than standardized testing, which I think is ridiculous, horrible, and a huge waste of time and energy. So that in a nutshell is what Ryleigh will be doing this fall. Out with the old and in with the new!

One of my favorite things to do all year. We headed down to the Trinity River bank in Fort Worth to check out Mayfest, eat turkey legs, shop, look at art, and do all of the FREE kid activities. Love these family days together. Ryleigh loved the trampoline, Carter, not so much. Maybe next year he will appreciate it more.

Carter is 2!!

April 29th my sweet, crazy baby boy turned 2. What a blessing he has been. He loves the Wiggles like his sister did, loves to read, sing, wrestle with his Daddy, RUN, swim, and anything to do with animals.

For his birthday we decided to do a little family trip to Glen Rose, about an hour and a half from home, and experience a wildlife park called Fossil Rim.

Josh didn't ge tthe memo that it was wear green day.......
 Ready to go!

It was so much fun. You drive around this park, filled with animals and you can feed them or just drive through and look. Of course we chose to feed them and it was great. The ostrich put their heads right in our windows and the other animals would eat right out of our hands. The park says not to do that because the animals will bite and they were right, a zebra mistakenly thought one of Carter's fingers was a food pellet and bit him. Ryleigh got to drive at the end and I think that was her favorite part.

We had a great day and will definately go back again!

So proud of my Boo and my Bestie Sis!

Josh and Jess
                                                   Ryleigh, Jess, Ciera, and Kristi

After months of training for their first half marathon, The Rock and Roll, Dallas, Josh and Jess accomplished their goal. I could not be more proud of them and also my sister in laws Kim and Laura who participated. It was so awesome to know that we had many family members supporting each other to finish the race. Ryleigh and I went down to cheer them on as they crossed the finish line but unfortunatly the finish line was hidden from us. Not the greatest set up but glad we were able to go see them after they finished. Up next, a FULL marathon at White Rock Lake!

Daddy/Daughter Dance

So this fun little night happened about 5 months ago.....slightly behind on my blogging I would say. But how cute is this? Ryleigh told Josh when they were driving home that it was the best night of her life. They had a limo ride, a baked potato bar, and danced for about 2 hours! Ryleigh danced with some girls from school and Josh hung out with the dads. I love when they get to do fun bonding things like this, just the two of them. Ryleigh's favorite dance is the electric slide and the "cha cha slide", in case you were wondering.

Ryleigh had her first stage performance with her choir group at church A.M.P. which stands for All My Praise. It was cute to see the kindergartners sing and do the motions to the songs. She loves to sing just like her Daddy so let's hope she doesn't get her mother's singing voice....

Texas Education

Last week was Texas history lesson for the Kindergartners. I got to hear all about the Texas flag, the state flower (bluebonnet), the bird (mockingbird) and how Texas is the best state ever. Above is something Ryleigh made with some facts. My favorite is the last line, "These peppers make chili hot". This is important to know if you live in Texas.

My New Favorite Thing...

My Goat milk soap! It's the best smelling package from USPS ever and  Josh and the kids love it too!
I also use the laundry soap, no harsh chemicals!

Garage Sale Shananagans

This is what happens when you have some down time at the garage sale, which, by the way was exhausting and so time consuming. But, we made enough money for our trip to Galveston in a couple weeks so it was worth it.
