My little Carter man is not so little. I swear he is huge and loves to eat. After a couple of fussy afternoons, his genius mother finally figured out that he is hungry. So we are giving a couple of formula bottles a day, and this gives mom a break too. He is doing awesome at night too, which I almost hate to say because I feel like I'm going to jinx myself. He is getting up only 2 times to eat and going straight back to bed.

Ryleigh's last week of school is next week which leaves me wondering, what the heck are we gonna do everyday to stay entertained?! I suppose a lot of swimming. She is my challenge right now, the newborn is a piece of cake compared to her!

My mom gets here tomorrow! I am so excited, she'll be here for 10 days and I'll get some help during the day and next weekend when Josh will be out of town. AND, I get to have a much needed night out!

2 Week Check up

Mister Carter man had his 2 week check up yesterday and is weighing in at a healthy 8 lbs 15 oz. Which means he's gained about 1/2 pound a week! Doctor said he looks great and is thrilled with his weight gain. His length was 23 inches which means Josh was right at the hospital. He said right away that they measured him wrong. There is just no possible way he has grown 3.5 inches in 2 weeks. We are just trying to enjoy every moment of this itty bitty stage, it goes so quickly.

Our new family of 4

All of the Smiths are adjusting well to the new change in our household. The past couple of nights have been good sleeping nights. Carter is only waking up about every 3 hours so that is okay with me. Over the weekend I was a human pacifier for most of the nights which is exhausting. Hopefully we can stay on this schedule of being awake for a couple of hours and eating about every 2 hours. I don't know how some people just let babies do whatever they want, whenever they want. I personally would go crazy, I need time frames! I still haven't ventured out for more than a little while, he is a hungry little man and wants to eat way too much right now! He has his first doctor appointment on Thursday morning so we'll see what he weighs now. I already see some "chubby" features on him, which I LOVE.

Ryleigh is doing pretty good, loving her new brother all of the time. She is so sweet with him, but I can see that it won't be long before she tries to pick him up. Hopefully this won't happen but knowing her, she is mischievous, (that's a nice way of putting it!) She was very excited to bring pictures to school today. Her teacher said she walked in the room and made the announcement to the class that she had pictures of her baby brother, and apparently everyone stopped and listened to her. I think her calling is to be a teacher. Speaking of teachers, Ry spent the afternoon with her Aunt Jess on Saturday after T Ball. They went to Sunday's (what Ry told me, they actually went to TGI Friday's), and then went to get mani/pedi's. She had a blast and mom and dad had a nice break!

Mother's Day was great. Ryleigh and Carter got me a massage and a facial! I've never had a facial so I am excited to use it. We had some friends over and cooked out while the kiddos swam. Yes, the pool is officially open! I won't go in yet, a little bit too chilly for me, but it's something for Ryleigh to do and I won't feel so bad about not going anywhere or doing much lately. It's actually really nice to not have a million things to do and errands to run. I am TOTALLY content with hanging out here and catching naps whenever possible!

Carter Pictures

Ry can't get enough of her bro. BUT she loses "holding Carter time" if she's sassy to us.
Carter is doing great, he eats, sleeps, poops, eats, and eats. We took him in Sunday to get him weighed and to see if he was jaundice. He hasn't lost any weight (most babies lose about 8% after birth) and he was looking good. He's got his days and nights mixed up but we'll try to change that soon! He was only up 2 times last night so I can't complain. So far, he's perfect! I'm just going to enjoy Josh's last day home with us and enjoy a beer on the patio tonight for Cinco de Mayo!
