Our Planetarium visit

Ryleigh is doing the summer reading program through the Arlington libraries. Of course, she's not reading, just listening. When you have read your 25 books, you bring your list to the library and you can pick out cool things like a free game at Putt Putt, free pass to any Arlington pool, or food, things like that. So I urged her to pick a free admission to the planetarim at UTA. Sounds different and I thought it would be a great learning experience for her. (And I am all about doing FREE things this summer!) So Jess, Ryleigh and I go see "Stars of the Pharohs" on Tuesday afternoon. I have to say I haven't been to a planetarium in forever so I sort of feel like I'm on a school field trip. Ryleigh LOVED it! Check it out.........

Keep in mind that this is the child who does NOT sleep in public places so she must have been really excited about this little adventure!

My child is so strange

I think most little girls like to play with dolls, and play "house". Ryleigh LOVES to pretend she's everyones mommy, including me. Most of the time I have to call her Mama or Miley, whoever she is at the moment. Something happened on Friday that got me thinking a bit.....we need to hurry up and get Ryleigh a sibling. The picture you're about to see is so funny and so strange at the same time. We were in the Gap and I looked over to see her talking to "someone", that's not the weird part. She talks to EVERYONE. It took me 5 minutes to get her to leave her new daughters, she had to say goodbye to them and give kisses to their headless bodies..........

This one in particular was her favorite daughter. She didn't want to put her down and she tried to take "her" shoes off so she would be comfortable. I love this child so much!

Grandma and Grandpa's visit

Where has the week gone? My parents drove down from S. Dakota to visit for the week. Ryleigh turned into her usual beastly self when she's around them. They don't see her as often so she tries to get away with anything and everything she can. It usually works with Grandma, not Grandpa. Josh and I even got to have a date night on Friday, something that doesn't happen very often. We had a great week and I had my day of tears yesterday when they packed up and went home.

Mommy and Me

We took a class tonight called mommy and me cooking class. It was run by a very young high schooler and so the mommy's ended up giving a lot of directions (i.e. "we need to wash our hands before we make any food" and "don't touch the stove because it's very hot".) You know, small things like that! The kiddos made pizzas and Rice Krispie Treats which they loved so it turned out good and Ryleigh had a good time. I, however, cannot get her to smile for me when taking pictures. Actually, she wouldn't even look at me to take the picture......attitude much? I have NO idea where she gets it! And how did she learn to have selective hearing. I swear I didn't do that until I was a teenager. Kids these days...

Here she is really happy because Jess and I made her try on her flower girl dress for our cousin's wedding in September. She looks really cute in it. I think the dirty look she's giving me adds to the cuteness [insert sarcasm].

Snuggle Bug

Since Ryleigh and I have been staying home together, she has become so snuggly with me. She has never been the cuddle type, even as a baby, so I am lovin this! Our summer is flying by, we are staying busy finding cheap or free things to do almost everyday. I am so blessed to have this time with her. In a few short weeks, she'll be starting preschool....my baby's growing up, sniff, sniff.

On another morbid note, Josh and I have an appointment with a lawyer to get our will done. Ryleigh is almost 4 and we still haven't done it so I can cross this off of my things to do list. It's disturbing to plan things in case we're not here but we know it has to be done.

My parents will be here next week so we have another great thing to look forward to this summer. Can't wait!

4th of July.....

The girls visiting has come and gone. We had a great weekend full of relaxing and laughing and fun. Here is what we did: swim, relax, eat, have some cocktails, swim, relax, eat, have some more cocktails, swim, relax, go out for hibachi, go out to Dallas. Saturday was our night out so we decided to go somewhere different and new for everyone. We went downtown to Ghostbar in the W hotel. Really nice place, and even better apple martinis, I highly recommend them.....if you feel like paying $13 for each one! Quite a spendy night but worth it, we had fun!
