Happy Birthday Josh, and Jess!

The twins turned 28 today! We decided to surprise daddy at work with a REALLY yummy cheesecake and took him out to lunch. Maw Maw, me, Ryleigh, Makena, Mandie, and Josh. You should see the looks I get when I go out in public with the 3 girls, (ages 3, 3, and 11 months).....looks of "you're nuts lady". Sometimes I think I am!

Showin some love for ProStaff

Ryleigh also had her first swim lesson tonight. She LOVED it. This will be much more practical than gymnastics. They will work on the basics of learning to swim and holding their breath under water, etc. Ryleigh's favorite part will for sure be the big slide at the end of class. The girl is fearless. She was the only one who would go down it. I'm glad we started, swimming season is just around the corner, well in Texas anyway. (Another reason for MN peeps to visit). I will continue to hint at this until I get a visitor. I am determined!

The pool is heated to 90!

Well checks and SHOTS....Yuck

Ryleigh had her 3 year well visit this morning, just a few months late. She doesn't mind going to the doctor considering she was there so much as a baby. That is, unless, she is getting shots. Which I was NOT about to tell her until the very last minute. She is very attached to her doctor Linda and she was being a little stinker today. She refused to take her clothes off and refused to tinkle in the cup. Being the drama queen she is, she said to me, "But Mama, I just don't belong here." For those of you who don't know High School Musical 2, that is a line from one of the songs. Anyway, it went fine until the nurses came in for her shots. These are almost harder on me than her I think. I handled them much better when she was a baby. She cried and screamed and I even bribed her with gum as a distraction. Didn't work. At least we have another year until she needs more!

On another note, I was looking at airfare the other night for a couple of trips home in June and September and I thought I would check out the fares from MN to Dallas......$170. All you girls in MN, get your butts down here. I need visitors!

Movie Day

I had the afternoon to myself today. Not something that happens often, but much needed to keep my sanity. I went to see Juno, yes, by myself. It's very relaxing to go see a movie alone. (Except for the part where I saw a horrible jerk dad pull his little girls hair because she was looking down at her popcorn and not walking straight enough for him.) It is EXTREMELY hard for me to keep my big mouth shut in these situations. What I wanted to yell at him was, "That's abuse you big meanie!" Okay I wouldn't say "big meanie" but probably something else. Instead I just thought about how I am so grateful that Ryleigh has the best daddy in the world! So Juno, was sooo good, I loved every minute of it. I loved the dry sense of humor, I laughed out loud several times. But what I loved most was that it was filmed in MN. They referenced several MN places and things and it made me feel sort of at home. Anyway, I recommend it to anyone out there who wants to go see a movie.

So here is a picture of the new thing I baked this morning, it didn't look exactly like this but damn close! And it's really good!

A Trip to the Museum

So I decided we (the girls and I) needed to get out so we packed our little backpack with snacks and water and a couple of diapers for Mandie and headed to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. They have a little kid area where the kids are in their own little town including a grocery store, an ATM machine, a house, a puppet show, etc. The museum is under construction until spring so they have moved the exhibit to the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame.....No, I am not kidding, this building actually exists and there are things in it, and I think I saw one person walking around interested in the cowgirls. Only in Texas I guess. The girls had fun, here are some pics from the day.

Can you see this when they are 16?!

Doing some serious grocery shopping

Daddy buy me a pony, please?!

On another happy note, Josh and I got our passports in the mail today. One step closer to our trip to Mexico. I am so excited to see the girls and have a week away with my hubby. I will miss Ryleigh terribly I'm sure, but Aunt Deana will be here from Colorado so I know she's in good hands!

An "old friend" sent us an email which I found helpful and improved my mood greatly for the day, ( I have been really foul lately)! I thought I would share it. Here goes...

TEN WAYS TO RENEW A RELATIONSHIP

A new year gives us all a fresh start. We resolve to begin a new diet, go to the health club or pay down the credit card debt. Our intimate relationships deserve some attention as well. Here are ten simple ways to invigorate them:

Tell your partner one thing you like about him or her.
Share an interesting story that makes you both laugh...or cry.
Go to a movie and hold hands while you watch.
Hold hands while you have an argument.
Give each other a kiss that lasts longer than ten seconds.
Assume the best about each other.
When dealing with conflict, attack the problem, not your partner.
Send an email or text message for no other reason than to say "I love you."
Buy a romantic card and mail it to your partner.
Do all of these things more than once.

I need to remind myself to do these things often. Most are really easy. Besides, who doesn't like to kiss their signifcant other?!

Here's a picture of Ryleigh snuggling up with Jack and Charlie

I think I'm Betty Crocker

So I told Josh that one of my New Year's Resolutions is to try to cook, bake, or make one new thing per week. I am happy to report that I just finished making my first loaf of banana bread. I know, it's really easy but I kind of suck at cooking so I was really proud of myself! Maw Maw had to bring over a couple of the ingredients (I had the bananas) but my goal has been accomplished for the week. I wonder how long this little project will last. I'm giving myself 3 more weeks! Okay, now I'm breaking one of my other resolutions to be more positive this year. I can only do so much! Courtney

Inspired.....

So here we go.....I have no idea how this will turn out but I hope I have just one fan. (Let me know if you are my one fan!) Then I won't feel like a total loser. I love reading my sister-in-law's blog so I decided I would try it out. I guess it makes you feel like you know what's happening in your friends and families lives. I must admit I am a little intimidated but I'm sure I will get more comfortable as I blog more. It's even weird that I'm typing that I am now a blogger. I think Ryleigh will be my blogging buddy. She is sitting next to me writing and telling me that we are doing work. So we will "work" together at this! She also just told me she NEEDS an ipod. She is 3, going on 15. And she needs a bath so until next time....Courtney.
